From volunteering at my children's elementary school to coaching YMCA soccer to supporting the search for a cure to breast cancer, I believe in supporting and enhancing the community in which I live in any way possible. Susan B. Komen Walk For the Cure Four years ago my best friend, my mom, was diagnosed with breast cancer. After treatment in the spring, she participated that fall in the Komen 1-mile walk in downtown Phoenix. Last year, my dad and I accompanied her on the 5k walk. And this October, we walked for the third time since she became a cancer survivor. Here's for a photo of my parents and me after last year's 5K walk. Getting involved with the Komen foundation takes little more than a handful of dollars and a couple of hours one October morning.
